Husky Safari in Lapland
Join a Husky Safari for an unforgettable ride through snow-covered trails. Meet Alaskan Huskies, drive your own sled, and enjoy hot drinks by a campfire. Suitable for all ages, including families.
What to Expect:
Embark on an unforgettable Husky Safari and experience the thrill of dog sledding through the pristine winter landscapes of Lapland. This adventure offers a unique opportunity to meet friendly Alaskan or Siberian Huskies, learn about the traditional lifestyle of husky mushers, and enjoy the stunning Arctic scenery from a sled pulled by a team of eager sled dogs. Whether you’re looking for a short scenic ride or a full-day adventure, there’s a husky safari tailored just for you.
Your journey begins with a transfer from your accommodation to a charming husky farm, where you will be welcomed into the world of sled dogs and their passionate caretakers. You’ll have the chance to meet the huskies, learn about their training, and even get involved in preparing them for the ride. Our partners offer a variety of safari options, from shorter 10 km trails perfect for beginners to longer 30 km full-day excursions for those seeking a more challenging adventure. You can also customize your experience with private safaris ranging from 5 to 40 km.
Before setting off, a professional guide will provide a thorough briefing on how to handle the sled and ensure everyone is comfortable and ready for the journey. Two participants typically share a sled, with one driving and the other enjoying the ride as a passenger, and you can switch roles halfway through the safari. For those who prefer, it is also possible to sit back and relax as a passenger in the guide's sled.
A Unique Connection with Nature and Huskies:
As you glide through snow-covered forests, frozen lakes, and breathtaking winter scenery, you’ll feel the excitement of the huskies as they pull your sled with incredible strength and teamwork. Along the way, there will be opportunities to pause, enjoy hot drinks around a campfire, and learn more about the history of dog sledding in the Arctic, from ancient hunting methods to modern-day races.
If you’re visiting during the summer or autumn months, the adventure doesn’t stop—kennel visits and husky training tours are available, where you can see the huskies in action with an ATV or cart, pulled by a team of 16-18 dogs. This unique experience gives you a glimpse into the year-round life of a husky musher and their dedication to these amazing animals.
Family-Friendly and Private Options Available:
The Husky Safari is an ideal activity for families, including those with small children. The little ones can ride comfortably wrapped in warm sleeping bags while you lead the team through easy terrain. The small group sizes and private options ensure a personal, immersive experience, far from the crowds, where you can truly connect with the huskies and the local way of life.
